Why Austria?

One month from tomorrow, I will be boarding a plane waiting to take me around the world. I will be spending the following three months in Austria learning German, being immersed in a different culture, and experiencing life abroad. How cool is that?!
I've been asked several times "Why Austria?" It seems like one of those countries in Europe you wouldn't think of visiting unless you had a reason to. At least, that's what I thought when I was told that the only opening for a study abroad in the fall was for Austria (I decided to go right when the deadline for applications passed, so I didn't have a lot of options. All I knew is that I wanted to go to Europe).
After a little research (mostly looking up pictures online) I can fully and wholeheartedly say that I am STOKED. I never planned on learning German or living in a country that speaks it, but sometimes life comes at you in unexpected ways.
A preview of a few of the places I will be visiting:

Vienna, Austria. The majority of my time will be spent in this beautiful city.

Hallstatt, Austria.

Prague.

More pictures to follow. Obviously :) (and they will actually be taken by my camera!)

In the meantime, this is what I have been looking at for the last three months, and what I will be looking at for the next:

Gotta pay for these adventures somehow...

I probably won't be posting until approximately September 8th, seeing as my days until then will be spent looking at the inside of moving boxes.

Until then,
Auf Wiedersehen!
